Celestial Buffalo

Good Morning!

We acted on faith this week and goaled to find four new people to teach, and we found them! We also have a number of appointments with potential investigators this coming week, so I hope for more success this coming week! We brought people to church, and the people here are awesome! The members keep giving us food, so we gave away a cake during finding time . . . that was an experience! I'm also about to stop buying jam, as the people of Southern Utah love making their own, and sharing it. I'll be opening a jar of bumbleberry jam this week, it'll be an interesting experience! All our lessons canceled on Saturday, but it opened opportunities to be miracle workers in others' lives. It's a good thing God is in charge, not me!

I finally tracked down some buffalo, and the rumors were true . . . they're white! I found white buffalo! Those bison are straight from the Celestial Kingdom! It was amazing, I took a ton of photos, and I'm going back again as soon as possible.

I've noticed miracles every day this week, and made it a personal goal to record them in my journal. It's been a very worthwhile experience, this practice helps me have a more positive outlook on my day. For example, when our lessons canceled on Saturday, opportunities opened up to be miracle workers in someone else's life. One family didn't have anyone to help them move a treadmill, it was just the dad present. So we drove over and squeezed it through the front door! Then we gave away a cake.

One member family we had met gave us a cake and challenged us to give it away! I was a bit skeptical, but Elder Gibson had a plan. So we took it with us for finding time, and each house we knocked directed us to another that might be interested! We found an older gentleman to return and discuss the gospel with, and ultimately gave the cake to a mom who'd been struggling financially as her and her husband switch jobs. So we provided a blessing for their food bill! I enjoyed it, and she knew people on her street we could contact; if that's not a miracle I don't know what is!

One prayer I've had recently is that we will find new people to teach. I am confident they are here in La Verkin, but I expressed to God that I have no idea where to find them. Then, throughout the week, we've been guided to a number of individuals, through members and our own efforts, who are willing to meet and learn a bit more! This is evidence to me of God's hand in missionary work, and how important it is to Him that we devote all our energies to bringing souls to the knowledge we have. The Utah struggles are perhaps unique over any other mission, but it's rewarding when referrals begin paying off!

Someone mentioned during church that we, as a people and individuals, are "mountain-movers, not mountain-watchers". I love this because it shows how real miracles are. I can't move a mountain, or overcome a trial or struggle by myself, and neither can anyone else. These mountains are moved and transformed in our lives through the Atonement and grace in Jesus Christ. It's truly special to have that knowledge, and share it with those I meet.

I have mentioned to a number of people that "I wouldn't be here on a mission if I didn't know this gospel is true." A lady shared her experience with my companion and I that people questioned why she sent her son on a mission. So her response was, "I'm either crazy, or this gospel is true". The response she would get was something like "Well, I know you're not crazy . . ." It's interesting how much that happens as a missionary!

My little witness I'll leave with you is as follows: This gospel, just like finding some white buffalo, may sound very crazy. But, we recognize the truthfulness through the evidences we have. These may be photos of the said buffalo, or other things, such as the Book of Mormon, and the hand of God I see in my daily life. So here's the ultimate question.

If it's not crazy, and the proof is right here before you, then is it not true?
