In the Strength of the Lord
Good Morning!
We are witnessing miracles! Isn't that the best thing ever? We had three people at church who have never come before, and two others who come regularly. Estella still wants to be baptized, so we'll talk with her and her mother about that this week likely, and we found two hidden brothers who aren't on church records, that both want baptism, and both turn 9 in under 10 days! The work is amazing, I love it.
Here's a bit about my new missionary. He is Elder Dearing, from South-Western Missouri. He is the oldest of 5, approaching age 19, and about 8 inches shorter than me. But that's okay, most of my companions have been shorter than me so far anyways! He is a very willing, diligent missionary who wants to be obedient and do the best he can. Elder Dearing has a very strong faith in his Savior and turns to prayer often. I couldn't have asked for a better new missionary, if I'm honest.
That's a good thing, because I. Am. So. EXHAUSTED.
We have been as exactly obedient as possible, gone to bed as close to 10:30 as we can, and worked as hard as possible. I've had to teach Elder Dearing so many different things that I'm impressed he's absorbed any of it. I've given him so much knowledge that I'm afraid it can be related to the ice bucket challenge; he gets a little wet, but most of the water (in this case knowledge) goes into the grass. Thankfully we have the Spirit! It's a knowledge sponge for him, and myself.
We check every information document, I'm making sure we meet all the companionship study requirements, ensuring we stick to the schedule and stay as busy as we can to further work here. On top of all that, I'm definitely not sick. Promise.
I've got a headache and a little drowsiness, plus the back of my throat hurts a bit. So I'm taking honey, relaxing as best I can, and avoiding any and all naps possible. Throughout all these ordeals, and the other responsibilities I cover, I've been turning to God in all the sincerity I can manage. And let me tell you, "Whom God calls, God qualifies." (President Monson)
Each day is the day to accomplish what we can, and each day we witness miracles. We have a baptism scheduled for this month! And the cousin, who is 8, has been given permission to be baptized at the same time! And we are knocking on all the right doors, (as much as reasonable) and sleeping as well as possible. We also have three lessons tonight. So today is the day to accomplish the Lord's errand!
One of the many miracles is learning more about personal revelation. I've come to discover that it's often like a creative process, at least for me. As I discuss and ponder upcoming meetings and ways to further the work here in the Stake, I find that my vague ideas are prompted and pulled together by the Spirit, until the best method is revealed. The Spirit is like the glue that sticks everything together you could say!
I know that everything is possible in the strength of the Lord, and that personal revelation, this amazing, creative process, is prepared for us to receive guidance necessary for our life. I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. (Philippians 4:13) Because I know He will guide and direct me towards his purposes if I'm willing, and He will do the same for you, if you let him.
In the name of Jesus Christ,
Amen.
