Higher and Holier Callings

Good Morning!

I have had a very busy week, but those are the best ones because it means I'm working. We had a high number of lessons this past week, and introduced a better way to communicate with the wards concerning those we are teaching, and trying to find, in their boundaries. We found one new person to teach, and only two people came to church, but it's not because we didn't work, that's my comfort. We have a number of people this coming week that we could reach out to and potentially begin teaching, and I know there are more hiding somewhere. We'll find them!

Some of my favorite days as a missionary are the days where I don't recall what happened in the morning. We've had days with 6 or 7 lessons, and other activities between, and by 9pm I'm ready to sleep. But there's still work to do, reporting to finalize, and a bedtime routine to complete. Sleep can't come too quickly on those days!

One thing I have come to recognize is the importance of always seeking improvement in my life. I can't grow too comfortable with wherever I am, because if I'm not growing then I'm not getting better. I know I'm not perfect, so I can still strive to be better! I don't expect perfection out of myself (or else I wouldn't get anything done) but I do expect progress.

This week I had the opportunity to be interviewed by President Staples. It was a very wonderful interview, we learned a lot and discussed ways to seek that improvement in our lives, and the dealings with have with those around us. I strive to put his advice into practice, but I still fall short. Hence why I plan for progress over perfection.

One question President Staples proposed to the mission, for discussion during our interview, was how the our relationship with the Book of Mormon has changed since the start of our service. Some blessings I've recognized as I study the Book of Mormon daily are the peace it's brought my soul, the little truth nuggets that jump out at me from the page, and I've felt it reinforce the knowledge I have and open up my mind to more.

I have grown to love studying the Book of Mormon, and I've seen how it's influence is changing lives out here! If you don't read it daily, please begin. If you haven't read it in a while, seek improvement and start picking it up again. And if you haven't read much of it at all, give it a shot. What's the worst that could happen?

I know how critical it is to seek improvement in my life, and I can tell when others desire to stay stagnant. The hardest part to see, is that you can't really stagnate. You're either moving forward, or you're being drawn backwards. So seek the improvement in your life, as much as you are able to.

Lastly, I am very grateful for the leaders and friends I have. They provide good counsel, especially when I've needed it. Thank you for how you've helped me. I hope to be that guide in others lives as I gain wisdom and understanding.

Make this week a good one! You can always control your attitude, even if you can't control your circumstances. Positive thoughts lead to positive actions. Positive actions grow into higher and holier callings. Then you begin to realize your potential.
