How Great Thou Art

Good Morning!

It has been an amazing week! I went on an exchange, Estella chose a date for baptism, everyone almost didn't come to church, and I definitely wasn't sick! Okay, I probably was. But nobody noticed! Oh, and it didn't kill me, so that's a plus.

I'll start with the exchange. I had the opportunity to lead Elder Denhof, another new missionary, in the Salina area. We did quite well, I taught him how to knock doors and how to approach people on the street! He's getting the hang of mission life, I'm grateful for his willingness to serve. Also, our basketball night was canceled for the evening, so we had a surprise hour of work to do before we had to reunite the original companionships! With that surprise, we returned home, changed back to our ties and tags, and prayed for a miracle. Then we visited a member's home who's always busy, and he let us in and gave us a couple referrals! That was awesome, it's a huge miracle right there. 

During the exchange we talked with Estella and her mother, and decided on a date for baptism! It'll be the week after General Conference, she's super excited! Their home is always a blast to visit, all the kids love us. Maybe a little too much, they like giving hugs, I'm ultimately grateful for how the Spirit is changing their lives. Finn's baptism had to be pushed back a couple weeks because his mother got super sick, but Satan can't keep him from baptism for long! The month of October is about to be amazing. 

Many of our friends came to church, but we weren't sure which would be going. We did our best, and almost everyone who needed to come did! And they all thoroughly enjoyed it. We sat with David, and he even participated in Elder's Quorum! 

This Saturday we had another lesson with Melonie. We haven't been able to meet with her for a bit because she wasn't super aware we were trying to teach her (that was our fault) but we clarified that a couple weeks ago! We had a fellowshipper scheduled to attend the lesson on Saturday, but when we confirmed the appointment they tried canceling! We didn't know what to do, so we just dropped by an hour early to say hi. Then we met the mom, who loves us, and then Melonie came out to visit, and we hit it off! We knew this was time to hold the lesson, so we messaged our fellowshipper real quick and she arrived in time! That was a huge miracle filled experience, and Melonie will be at a Conference Watch Party with that fellowshipper this Saturday! 

I'm so excited, this work is the best. I've never done anything as fulfilling as missionary work, not even writing feels like this! The amount of miracles I've seen prove God's hand is in our lives; both yours, mine, and those we teach. 

During church for an intermission hymn we sang "How Great Thou Art". This was one of those hymns that I've overlooked quite effectively over the years, yet it stood out that day. I'm glad it was chosen as it allowed me to better recognize how great God truly is, and how His hand guides us and strengthens His work. 

I'm so grateful to be a missionary. I wouldn't want to be doing anything else. 

Go watch General Conference! Come with a question, and be prepared to watch a modern day Prophet witness God's love for you and share the counsel God has for your life! It'll be one of the best things you ever do.

Good Morning! Our friend Manny was baptized on Sunday, and I was honored to perform his confirmation. It was a beautiful service, I couldn't have asked for a smoother final baptism to have attended. Everything just fell into place. I'm grateful for Manny's commitment to the gospel and his wonderful family. They're such an example of Christlike unity and have a sincere desire to follow the gospel principles in their lives.  I've given the past 2 1/2 years some reflection this past week, but oddly not too much. The Forgotten Carols

Good Morning!  Fair warning, I have been planning this and the next two emails for most of my missionary service. This will be a powerful opportunity to reflect on what I've learned as a missionary and share some of those thoughts with you.  To start off, I want to share a few memorable highlights from this week! I had my final Zone Conference and I'm very proud of the testimony I bore. As a departing missionary this transfer I was given the privilege of sharing my testimony right before lunch. I made it through without crying, but I could feel the emotion and spiritual weight I'd been carrying for the last 2 1/2 years very acutely. Those were some of the longest 3.5 minutes of my life. But overall it was great to see a bunch of missionaries and watch them continue to grow! We have a housing lead in Minersville, and I think it's going to work out. Key Indicators for Conversion

Good Morning! I started the week feeling good that it was only Wednesday and the week wasn't over. Then it was Friday, then General Conference was almost over, and today is Monday. I'll stop discussing how time flies, but I feel it's appropriate that God lets each day feel long, yet the week vanish. I'm grateful for every second I still have as a missionary. What I want to share today is a bunch of statistics from my missionary experiences. As missionaries we utilize statistics, titled "Key Indicators for Converson" to measure our friends' progress and our commitment to spreading the gospel. Low key indicators don't the inherent worth of a missionary, just as high key indicators don't elevate one to a different status than another. These key indicators help us know where we are succeeding, and what we can do to improve.
