Guide Me Lord
Good Morning!
After an exciting Preparation Day, I didn't think the day could get much better. Then we met with one of our friends named Nicolai! He was scheduled to be baptized on December 3rd, but he didn't quite feel ready so we decided to postpone. During our meeting on Monday we held a long discussion on Ether chapters 2 and 3, and discussed how the Lord asks us to act in faith as we expect answers from him. With that, Nicolai decided that he was ready, so we planned to baptize him on December 10th! We planned the baptism in five days and Nicolai was confirmed on Sunday! I'm so excited for him, he's so ready to progress in the gospel.
Sent only a couple missionaries home last transfer, but had to take some photos with the ones departing before they're gone. It's astounding how good of a relationship you can build with someone in just a short amount of time. We took Elder Blake out after transfer day and spent some time with him. He is excellent at following the Spirit, I look forward to serving around him in the future.
President Staples asked Elder Koyle and I if he could come on a blitz into our area and tag along for our evening hours. We scheduled lessons with most of our teaching pool and went to work! Even though it rained (it's rained a lot this week), it was still a beautiful day for missionary work. We spent like 2 hours at the St. George Visitor's Center! The Sisters there are literally the best, I'm grateful they let us crash the place with our friends all the time. Because we were out with our Mission President, it was a great opportunity to learn from his wisdom, but also to learn about our friends. We uncovered concerns from a couple of our teaching friends, and can now work through them with better understanding and awareness.
I went on another exchange with Elder Pedersen! We brought cookies to a couple people and I met the Sweetser's, a family I'd helped start the teaching process with. They're literally golden, I'm excited to see them progress! Then we met some YSA college students and talked to them for a minute, they could be interested! We'll have to find out.
Lastly, Elder Koyle and I met this girl named Sarah. She's Christian, but hasn't been to her church in a while and is in need of some friends. So we brought Aaliyah, who's now our best fellowshipper ever, and the two are great friends now. After a wonderful lesson on our divine identity, we asked if we could discuss more about the Book of Mormon next time, and she said yes! That's exciting, I love people who want to learn.
A few weeks ago I had my 20th birthday. One of the gifts the Staples are giving for birthdays are journals and pens, so I collected mine in early October. My pen quote was the phrase "Guide Me Lord". Honestly, there wasn't anything super special to me about that quote, Since receiving that journal and pen, I've used it to record notes during my nightly prayers. It's like my little revelation journal, a place to receive promptings and store them for the morning.
I've put some thought this week into seeking the Lord's guidance. I'm working to be humble and receptive, but I've definitely missed the mark a few times. I am blessed to have a companion who encourages me to be a better person than before, and is shaping my mission for the better. Ultimately, the best reassurance I find comes from my personal prayers with my Heavenly Father. I'm grateful for what he does for me, and I'm striving to recognize His assistance even more!
I'll continue to seek His guidance in my life. I may not always know where I'm going, but if I'm willing to act and recognize spiritual promptings, then it'll be hard to go wrong. Time to let the Lord guide me! I'm also seeking a singular, sacred, spiritual experience with my Savior this month. I'm not sure how I'll achieve it, so perhaps that's why I need the guidance. Good thing God doesn't expect me to gather scattered Israel by myself!
