The Cause of Christ
Good Morning!
What I stated last week about this being a very prosperous area still stands. However, that did not stop most of our progressing friends from more or less vanishing on us . . . let me explain!
One friend on-plan didn't come to church these past 3 weeks (including the Sunday before we arrived) and she didn't make our last appointment. So we aren't sure what happened there.
The other is moving to Colorado, maybe around September 8th. He would have been baptized on the 9th, but it's fine. He'll still get baptized, but for now we are sending him off after we meet next Wednesday.
And half our friends attending church are moving back to Taiwan to continue their school! I suppose it was 'unsustainable success' as their parents wouldn't allow them to get baptized here, but they are very dear to my heart. It's tender to watch them learn the gospel, especially in such a short time. They were here in Cedar City for a month, and we showed up halfway through the teaching process. I pray they continue to progress in Taiwan!
We did find 3 new friends to teach. One is a young boy named James who loves motorbikes. Another is an older lady named Sue who's been the principal of a school in California. Alex is the third, he's actually in the YSA! Though he's unfamiliar with the church we have taught him twice already. None have come to church yet, but that's okay. We're making progress.
The YSA is picking back up though! All the students are back, they're exploring the institute and we're already finding many missionary-minded members. I love the YSA because so much happens and there's such an energy here. It helps fuel my fire for missionary work.
We attended a "Come, Follow Me" study with some (like 20) Young Single Adults last night. It was a bad idea because we really don't study through "Come, Follow Me" so I had no clue what was going on aside from previous personal studies on 1 Corinthians 1-7. But my favorite part was the end. My companion and I had a chance to share our testimonies of the work we are all engaged in.
I shared my testimony on how God is preparing a people ready to receive Zion. I know it's our job to continue to sanctify and purify our lives, and unite in the cause of Christ. This means missionary work. This means reactivation. This means uniting all of God's children into His fold through the love and grace of our Savior. It's the best work on Earth. It's my personal favorite work to be a part of, and I look forward to all the progress to be made in Cedar City.
