The Ghost Town
Good Morning!
This week we have been very busy. We organized 60% of our member dots by positioning them over their proper addresses. I've participated in three separate meetings, prepared for District Council (which went fantastic!), and done lots of driving. Also, we found twelve new friends to start teaching, we've found a couple solid leads for apartments in our area, wrote talks for sacrament meeting, drafted an email on our friends to the Stake, and got lost in Cedar City for just a little bit. We also may or may not have witnessed a portion of the Super Bowl as we visited people and I got to discuss missionary life with a recently returned missionary.
All in all, it has been a fantastic week! I'm super exhausted, but I'll get over that part. Of note, we entered the week knowing we needed to find lots of new friends as we start working in the area. We were blessed exceedingly by the Lord to find all 12 of them! We should help some of our friends prepare for baptism in March. I'm just grateful to be a missionary and to get to spend this time around the other missionaries, who've become some of my good friends, even if they keep going home on me!
One thing I will note about our District Council. I am in charge of running it for our District, but the Spirit was present and revelation was real as we spent that hour and a half in council. The other missionaries in the District provided a ton of support and many of the Senior missionaries had great insights. It taught me the importance of councils and how they can further the work of the Lord, when led by the Spirit and with proper preparation. This is something I've understood, but last Thursday's council was a powerful reminder for me.
Since serving in the Minersville Stake again, and being around the Beaver Stake, it has meant that I see a lot of people that I knew a year ago. One such individual I got to reconnect with is Joe. His hospitality continues to impress me, as well as his wonderful cooking and kind heart. He is an example to me of a Christ-like perspective when others are in need.
In a week and a half my brother will be home from his mission in Pocatello. Time flies when you're having fun I guess! I've recently been given access to the post-mission planner that's meant to help us prepare for each area of our life after missionaries go home. I feel it will help solidify the plans I already have.
There's a lot I could elaborate on, but really, this week has come and gone. I'm grateful for it, but I look forward to the coming week. Fun fact for the week: We did visit the town of Frisco. It's effectively at population 0, because there's literally nothing left of the town, except the sign that the town used to live there. That was a cool sight I probably will never see again.
