Seek & Expect Miracles
Good Morning!
How do you say a week was full of miracles? God knows the timing of His children, and He allowed us to be a small part of His work by finding a few new friends to teach! Some have been worked with in the past, while others we are visiting for the first time.
But before we get to that, we had two baptisms this weekend! Elder Mason & I have been working with Ryker and Chandlee since our time being here. They are both willing to live the gospel, and Chandlee has been waiting to be baptized for a while. We were able to help them accomplish their goals this past weekend. I've loved working with them!
We met the Winn family on Tuesday last week. The kids were friendly, but when we came back later the dad told us he wasn't interested. So we mentioned that his kids were, and scheduled a time to come by. They tried canceling the morning of our visit, but due to some confusion we actually didn't get their text, and showed up anyway! It was a miracle because we shared a message about God's love with the entire family, when they actually weren't supposed to be there! It was the most powerful lesson I've had where we focused on God's love for His children. The kids want to learn more, so we are going back this week!
Elder Mason met Tyrone while I was on exchanges in Panguitch. It was a good interaction, but I later went by on exchanges with Elder Rasmussen and we met his brother, Emmett! Both are willing to learn, and recognize us as men of God. I think that's pretty cool, and Emmett especially is very open to meeting and learning, he is a seeker of truth.
Dakoda is another seeker of truth! We dropped by his home for the hundredth time on Saturday, and his wife opened the door! She told us to come back on Sunday, so we coordinated a time and dropped by with a couple friends from the ward. Things lined up perfectly, Melissa had remembered we were coming by and wouldn't let either of them leave, just for us to take a few minutes and get to meet them! Dakoda is another seeker of truth, and he is also open to learning about the gospel. I am grateful for his willingness.
Earlier in the week we dropped by Rob Karren. He's had a lot of questions about the church and the gospel, though he's let his kids get baptized from previous missionaries. However, when we dropped by (expecting to introduce ourselves) the wife opened the door, let us in, just as a member of the ward who's been answering lots of Rob's questions was finishing up a weekly visit! He left and we talked to Rob for a bit, and arranged to come back with that ward member and continue working with him! It was exciting, Rob said he'd been thinking about baptism a lot more these past couple weeks as he better understood priesthood authority. I'm praying for him, he's been through a lot.
Elder Rasmussen and I had a huge miracle together. We had to use the bathroom, and after a long process of selecting a place ended up at this Texaco gas station. I haven't seen one of these in what feels like forever, but we went anyways. It was just us and the register lady, so we talked with her for maybe 15 minutes. As we discussed the gospel we highlighted how she would feel peace in her life as she learned more about Jesus Christ and His church on the earth today. It really touched her heart, she's a sweet woman who is in need of something spiritual to ground herself in. I hope we can be a part of the puzzle that provides that for her. We'll go by her home on Tuesday!
This week has been a welcome change of pace, but it's all possible because of the Lord. He is the one who does the work, I'm just trying to find the people He has prepared for us. It's been a crazy week, but we are looking very strong across the mission and I'm excited for the momentum building up in the Utah St. George Mission! Here we seek and expect miracles, and God provided them in plenty this past week.
Oh, I also successfully karate-chopped my glasses during morning exercise on Saturday, so now the frame is broken. See if you can tell a difference! I'm using the spare, they're almost as good. I think I have a frame fixer friend in Richfield, so hopefully whatever she does works. I'll let you know next week!
I also made breakfast cookies, but without the baking soda. They look okay, but we'll find out!
